Rhubarb apple crumble

I made this back in March before I started this blog. I wish I had started earlier now and not procrastinated so much, but at least I’m here now.

I made this because I was excited about making strawberry jam, but then realised I didn’t have enough strawberries, so I looked for something else to make. I saw that I had lots of stems of rhubarb and some left over apple to use up, so I made a crumble.

I stewed the rhubarb with some raw sugar till it was soft, then added the apple, then poured it into the dish. Then I added the crumble topping which was some oats, I think some left over muesli and melted butter. I mixed that together then poured it in the dish over the apple mix.

I think I cooked it in the oven for about 20 mins, I forget, but when I took it out, it was golden brown.

We added whipped cream during serving, but I didn’t photograph that because we just wanted to eat.

This turned out okay. It didn’t taste like rhubarb, just apple and a bit oaty because I had forgotten to add sugar to the topping. My partner and I like this, so I’ll make it again, especially if I have left over apple.
